No, you’re not seeing things – this is the new website for Tbilissi Recordings. Yes, it has been a while. Why? I was just getting to that.
The multifarious trials and tribulations of running a small record label with a virtually nonexistant budget are recorded in many places on the interweb, so I won’t go into them right now. Suffice to say that it was all getting too much like work and less like allowing people to hear the marvellous sounds captured in our heads once they’d been spooned into the physical realm. Plus the sheer effort involved in trying to sell things to people can be rather tiring. So we let it lie for a bit. Sorry about that.
But there remained a niggling feeling that something was being neglected, mainly from the unsold records sitting in the hallway of my new flat. To that end Tbilissi has been reborn, to keep spreading the word about some of the most criminally under-appreciated bands of what certain people call the ”noughties” and to possibly release some new stuff if we feel like it (and there are a few things in the pipeline too).
So please stay tuned and we might come out with something you really like. We might not too, but it’s not like you’ve lost anything.
